trump does not still any documents that would respond to the subpoena from the new york attorney general s office. the judge is saying, you still have to prove to me that what you did with these post it note and what you did with a handful of other boxes. once the trump people can do that, it looks like the judge will release his from this contempt. it s important to keep in mind the bigger picture. this is about larger investigation which may result in a civil lawsuit by the new york ag against the trump organization. that s the bigger picture here. it looks like trump is about to get through this contempt issue he s had. thank you both. i appreciate it. democrats failing to pass a bill in the senate to protect abortion rights while republicans are promising they don t intend to pass a national ban. up next, we ll talk about which is more likely to happen.
187 minutes when trump was resisting calls to intervene, when people were lobbying mark meadows and he doesn t do so, how are we going to get to what trump was saying, thinking, feeling during those 187 minutes and why he took so long to make that response? i think there s probably i know there s at least two ways the committee is trying to penetrate that moment. the first is sort of an obvious one. it s getting people like meadows to talk using all of the power that they have and pressure. in this case making a referral to the justice department, you know, the contempt issue, to force them to speak. and it seems like penetrating that inner circle has been very difficult for the committee, and the problem that the committee has is that if it is going to prevail in forcing people like
a member of congress, white house chief of staff, discussing a plan to disenfranchise millions of voters. president biden weighed in on meadows and the contempt issue a short time ago. let s take a listen to what he said. i don t know enough just what i ve seen, i ve not spoken to gone. it seems he s worthy of being held in contempt. biden had previously weighs in on steve bannon s contempt case suggesting he should be prosecuted. and there was some criticism of that for the president to weigh in on a pending justice department case. the justice department is, of course, supposed to act independently of the white house. now going forward, a lot of questions, kate, about why the lawmakers who sent these text messages are not named. the committee has named fox news hosts, the president s own son in some of these messages they ve shared but cnn is told by the committee in the next week or so they ll decide whether they will name those lawmakers. the committee insists they wanted to
team pence and that s so important because of the role that the vice president played on january 6th in the events leading up to it. the threat he faced during that time on january 6th. yeah, absolutely. so we know too that former trump associate steve bannon in the other camp, not in the cooperation camp, but set to take part in a conference, that could set a trial date for his contempt of congress charge. what are we expecting to hear from him out of all that? yeah. steve bannon is very much in the digging his heels in and not cooperating camp, why he s facing this contempt issue. and he really wants to slow walk these proceedings. lawyers made that very clear, they made it clear in a filing last night. they re suggesting, you know, perhaps we should go to trial in october of next year. the government is saying, wait, wait, we think we can go to trial much sooner than that, potentially before april of next year. the timing on this is going to be really important if the committe
