Kitchener's venues may be getting some new events in the future and more support from the city. The city hired its first director of culture and entertainment. Jeremy Dueck will start his role in December after being with The Aud for over a decade. Part of his new will be to support venues like The Aud, Centre in the Square, The Conrad Centre and The Registry Theatre. And work with the community to grow Kitchener entertainment culture.
Around three weeks after the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony filed for bankruptcy, its creditors met inside the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts in Kitchener to hear about what to expect going forward.
“It’s been a lot of ups and downs in the past week,” concertmaster Bénédicte Lauzière told CP24 in the days following the symphony’s sudden announcement that it was declaring bankruptcy and forever ceasing its operations.
