and not just the 23 to 1 immediately institute abortion bans if roe falls. a national band would effectively mean that pregnant americans would have to travel out of the united states to obtain an abortion. it is unclear if such a ban would be seriously considered by republicans, should they win control of congress. now on the flip side, mcconnell s comments come as senate democrats all renewing efforts to codify abortion rights into federal law. senate majority leader chuck schumer is promising to hold a vote this week on the women s health protection act. it would be a little more than a political message ahead of the midterms as the bill appears to lack the 60 votes necessary to advance. yes, symbolism can be powerful. this move is prompting concerns from democratic voters about where the real change is. joining me now for more is north carolina congresswoman deborah ross, a member of the pro-choice caucus. congresswoman, thanks for being here this morning. as i mentioned, there is

court. will end abortion ban forced democrats to take more dramatic action? i put this to a member of the pro-choice caucus, congresswoman deborah next. americans are already feeling pain at the pump. it could get worse. gas prices could beat the national average of serious today. one of the areas seeing the biggest spikes in prices, with jesse how close are we to breaking that record? we are right on the cusp. the national average, if you run up to about 432 according to aaa, for a gallon of regular. the national record is $4.33, not adjusted for inflation with what we are seeing so far. but at this point we are right there, and it continues to creep up. jesse, what is behind these record setting prices? we have heard a different opinion but depending on who you talk to. give us a little bit of insight into why we ve got these prices and where they are heading.
question quickly. are we in dire need of overhauling the judicial nomination and confirmation process, in order to get the straight honest answers out of the sweetest justices? we are in dire need of having people but he appear before the senate be truthful. in both senators murkowski and collins, as you noted, are pro-choice. they care about roe. and they have been quoted on that. what we need to do is hold people s feet to the fire when they come and testify. it is just plain wrong that people who were testifying were not honest. remember, north bay there greensburg was a very honest. at a different time. at a time when there was not a pro-choice presence in the senate. but she felt it was important to be clear and transparent during her confirmation hearing. thank you congresswoman deborah ross for your advocacy and for your time this morning.
