Detroit City Council President Brenda Jones won t run for reelection

Brenda Jones, who has presided in the governing body for the last 16 years, including serving as council president for the last seven years.
She is the second Detroit City Council member to announce she would not be seeking another term after Council Member Raquel Castañeda-López said she would be stepping down at the end of the year.

blunt with you, there s three or four senators over there that just like to vote against republicans. and nina turner, big supporter of bernie sanders who put forward a single-payor legislation earlier this year. some democrats think that that actually put wind in the back of graham/cassidy by saying, oh,, you know, if you don t get rid of it, this is what s next, single payor. that s a false equivalency. people like president fdr have been fighting for this moment for a very long time. congressman john conyer, i was on a panel with him, he s opinion pushing single payor since 2003. that is very much a false equivalency. republicans have been trying to repeal and replace the aca for the last seven, going on eight years now. and all they re doing is hurting the american people. some of the projections in the graham/cassidy that 32 million people will be uninsured by 2027. it s just the wrong path. making sure that everybody has access to health care in this country is the way to go,
