Todays hearing is the sixth that this subcommittee has held since 2000 focusing on alzheimers disease. The burden of the disease, the state of the research and the challenges we face. Going back many years we heard predictions from experts about the far reaching consequences this disease will have on the quality of life of American Families and the burden will place on our economy in the years ahead. Last april major study predicted these consequences will be far greater than anyone previously imagined. We will hear from the author of that study on the next panel.
