committee in session and in preparation for what i hope would be having a proposal before we leave for thanksgiving. there s no reason we shouldn t. there s no good reason that we shouldn t. everybody knows what the choices are that have needed to be made and we have always stood ready to find common ground, bipartisan common ground for common-sense solutions that will grow the economy, create jobs, lift the sequester and reduce the deficit. the makings of a small package, i believe, are readily accessible to get this done before we leave so that over christmas, the period between thanksgiving and christmas which is a high consumer confidence time. we want confidence high, then, as well as year-end confidence in the markets and the rest that we ve removed all doubt that government will not be shut down
