High Winds Topple Confederation Building Christmas Tree

Dec 22, 2020 2:32 PM (Submitted photo.) No matter the size of one’s house, it comes as no surprise that high winds can play havoc with Christmas decorations. As it turns out, the House of Assembly is not immune to the weather, as the giant Christmas tree on Confederation Hill was toppled by a blast of wind over the lunch hour. Photos forwarded to VOCM News show the large tree lying prone at the foot of the steps leading to the Confederation Building. Typically a big draw in early December, the traditional tree lighting ceremony was broadcast virtually this year due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
