The newly revamped band program at Westmont High School was the recipient of a $10,000 community music grant from a Nashville-based foundation Music Has Value.
Band director Allison Biederman applied for the grant at the beginning of the school year, mid-pandemic, at a time when few foundations were investing in the arts and school-based programs.
Music Has Value, led by moguls Sandy and Scott Borchetta, saw the challenges facing schools both during the pandemic, and those that would come post-pandemic as schools seek to reinvigorate their arts programming.
