Time that i voted and i think i must have just turned 18 at the time. When i started to do the ballot fill out the ballot and to vote, i remember thinking i dont know any of these people. I dont know any of these measures. And i dont think that that was something that was unusual for someone who came from an immigrant family who i think my parents never voted until after i voted, actually. And so its one of these things that we say, when we think about why it is so important to vote, its because we have the opportunity to vote for people who represent us in government, whether its local government or all the way to the highest level in our federal government. Because these individuals pass laws and make decisions on how we govern how we live our lives, who we can marry, the air we breathe. Doing that kind of work. Thinking you have to know everything is not what people expect have you, but they expect you to ask questions when you dont know and thats important. My mom was diagnosed with cancer. That was really difficult. She encouraged me to go to school because in case anything happened i would be able to protect myself. I wanted to be in oncology. I thought going to school it would set me for the trajectory and prepare me for my life. We need the hardships to some of the things that are going to ultimately be your strength in the future. There is no way to map that out and no way to tell those things. You have to do things on your own and you have to experience and figure out life. You dont have to know what you are going to do for the rest of your life when you are in college or high school because there are so many things to do. Standard, for historic architecture, are professional degree in architecture or a state license to practice architecture. And one of one of the following two categories. Either at least oneyear of graduate study in architectural preservation, american architectural history, preservation planning or closely related field. Or the second criteria, at least one year of fulltime professional experience on Historic Preservation projects. And that experience or graduate study must include detailed investigations of Historic Structures, preparation of Historic Structures Research Reports and preparation of plans and specifications for preservation projects.
