Apa heritage month this is coming up next wednesday force us to this year is the 20th anniversary of celebration in San Francisco um, but that is also the 40 are 45 year of celebration in the United States um, in the 1979 the president signed the proposition for the may for the Asian American Pacific Islanders especially heritage and the month of may was chosen because of the could commemorate the transcommon council railroad and the arrive of the first immigrant in japan so we have been celebrating the weekly by the week every year until the year of 1990 was extend because of the work of a lot of organizations and advocating for them in 1992 the celebration of apa month in the country was again signed into law to tap in perpetuity this is the third vehicle because it is our 20year the month of may is very special and we celebrate coming together of our very diversity Apa Community and take this opportunity to celebrate our uniqueness and our togetherness it has to be both.
