Colleagues, i wanted to say that today is a historic day in these chambers. Were joined by incredibly courageous woman, mrs. Hamaney, grand lee, young su lee from korea. I wanted to start by saying todays hearing is about a history of breaking silences. Its about a fight for empathy, for hundreds of thousands of women and girls.

To move our city forward. As a chinese america, with a daughter who is chinese and japaneseamerica who is 15yearold, i want our young folk and future generations to know the stories that are told in these chambers today and allow those stories and that spirit to transform them as well as we move forward with a history and with a passion for peace and justice like lee. I also wanted to say that many people spoke at a Board Meeting on tuesday. Lots of them, veteran leaders from many movements and i wanted to also say that from the inner face communities like rabbi doug to reverend brown, and to those they talked about how people may come from different nations and different communities and neighborhoods, but we all bleed the same in the same color, in the same way, and thats why i say lee, grandma lee brings us together, unifies our communities for a future without oppression of women and girls, a few of peace and justice for all. Police tell us that over the course of this kidnapping the victim was punched kicked, choked and tased seven times. What started in many parking garage at 733 chestnut was likely the scare of a 53yearold womans life. Its scary because most people would consider this a pretty safe area to be. Reporter police say the woman had just left her job at a Jewelry Store around 4 00 p. M. Saturday. She was walking towards her car in the garage when three men wearing ski masks and dark clothes pulled her into a van and tortured her. Weekends terror inside the Center City Garage at 733 chestnut. It is scary because most people would consider this a pretty safe area to be. Philadelphia police say a 53 year old woman left her job at a Jewelry Store on the 100 block of eighth street around 4 00 p. M. Saturday and walked toward her car in this garage. When three men wearing ski masks, and dark clothes pulled her into a van and tortured her. Im surprised we live right in that building, just a block away and it has always seemed safe here. But investigators say her wrists zip tide, feet also bound, later with steel shackles. She was beaten and tazed several times while the folks drove her around for an hour demanding the keys to her job and the codes to the safe which she did not know. Eventually they demands the the pin to her bank card, cops say they stopped about four times to take money from her account.
