Plans are underway to revive the Lerala Diamond Mine in Botswana, according to Minister of Minerals & Energy Lefoko Maxwell Moagi. The mine, located in eastern Botswana, has been dormant for several years but may soon see a resurgence in production. Israeli company Maroon Capital has been exploring the prospects of the Lerala diamond lease area and has applied for a new mining license. Minister Moagi expects the license to be granted before the end of the year, allowing Maroon Capital to invest in the resuscitation of the mine and resume production.
