Farmworkers in New York should earn overtime pay after 40 hours worked in a week, as opposed to the current 60-hour threshold, a state wage board recommended on Tuesday.
Press release: After today’s release of the Farm Laborers Wage Board report, members of the Grow NY Farms Coalition called on Governor Hochul and Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon to reject the report and maintain the current overtime threshold at 60 hours per week. Members of the Grow NY Farms Coalition stated that the report is the product of a flawed process.
Gov. Kathy Hochul and Roberta Reardon, commissioner of the state Department of Labor, will now have 45 days to either accept or reject the recommendation.
