Good morning everyone. The committee will come to order. We are here this morning to review on going Recovery Efforts in puerto rico and the u. S. Virgin islands in the wake of hurricanes irma and maria, as well as efforts to rebuild it electric grids on those islands in a smarter and hopefully a more resilient manner. Were over two months removed from when Hurricane Irma devastated st. Thomas and john on september 6th and its been nearly 60 days since Hurricane Maria hit st. Croix and puerto rico. Just a little over a week ago that senators cassdy, franken and i along with senator carper who was just here and senator harris as well as some of our house colleagues visited both st. Thomas and puerto rico. I want to thank both governors. For your hospitality. The time you gave us during that visit. Resolution 34 which disapproves of the rules of the federal Communications Commission relating to privacy of customer of broadband and other telecommunication services. I applaud senator flakes work on this issue as it was passed by the senate last week. I filed a companion resolution in the house. The f. C. C. Finalized its broadband privacy rules on october 27, 2016. They assured us the rules would provide broadband customers greater choice, Greater Transparency and Stronger Security protections for their personal information collected by Internet Service providers, but the reality is much different. There are three specific problems with which the f. C. C. Has gone about these rules. First, the f. C. C. Unilaterally swiped jurisdictions from the federal trade jurisdiction. The f. T. C. Has served as our nations sole Online Privacy regulator for over 20 years. Second, having two privacy cops on the beat will create confusion with the internet echo system and will end up harming consu

The Environmental Protection agency came by the familys house over the weekend. They took my clothes, they took my shoes, they took literally everything that fitted me, all of my new clothes, school. Dawsons clothes. And his two brothers are being evaluated after wednesdays mercury scare. They checked his clothes which was in a pile and thats where they found a very very high volume of the mercury. When they came in my room, i heard the beeping going crazy. Dawson was one of several students that stepped on the it was like a little bead. It looked like a marble. His grandparents say they dont feel comfortable sending him back to school yet. Now. Most recently, what we have had is that entertainment piece. We have posted at the National Film festival starting last year from china with ministry support. We brought over six producers. They are bringing another group this march the National Film festival. In turn, we are looking at going over there. We had a great asset in tennessee with our music and film industry. Abigail has been working with china bringing music to tennessee and taking our focus is it going there. We are engaging in some of these activities going on unofficially and kind of crystallizing them and same these are true opportunities for crosscultural relationships developing business between the two.
