every agency at that scene should be taking heat. listen, active shooting protocols say you go in. we re putting it all on the local cop with six cops beneath him. the police showed up. after that the sheriff showed up. after that the state troopers showed up and they have the incredible border force we added over the course of the last several months. when did they say we need to go in? so i have asked colonel mcgraw for more answers and i expect to get those this week. i want to know when officers were and where they were situated and i m also asking for the manuals of those agencies to determine this notion of officer in operational control at what point do we not give that to the greater entity that has more manpower and more ammunition and more equipment? state troopers are fully equipped to handle this type of situation. that should have been done. even the federal government waited for a bit. one said to hell with it, we re going in. bill: thank you for your
you asked a question on friday, which i asked last week, which is which law enforcement agency should have been in control of the situation at robb elementary school? have you gotten an answer on this yet, sir? so i asked the question again saturday in a private conversation with colonel mcgraw. i memorialized it in a letter to him today. i have spoken to him. supposedly a full report will be by this friday. it s late for me. i d like it sooner. i asked him to do it as fast as possible and break it down in pieces. i don t need ballistics. which agency officers were there when they arrived, where were they stationed or where did they station themselves. we have the technology and we know we can verify that information. i want to see that as fast as i can. you said it s not fair to put this all on the school district police officer because as you say, everybody failed in this situation.
understand what this incident, the levels of failure are just incredible, beyond belief. the levels of failure are incredible and beyond belief. again, if you please out of respect, let s just put up the feys here. 19 young children, two teachers who are heros. educators are heros no matter where they are for what they do, and these, the families of these victims deserve the answers more than anybody. more than anybody. peter, when you listen, credit due to colonel mcgraw for finally coming out and laying out the timeline as he did, and for saying quite candidly, of course it was the wrong decision. what questions do you have after listening to what we just went through? it s really hard. right? to listen to that as the chief said. the training, he focussed on how texas embraces active shooter
yesterday the lieutenant here told us that they were taking cover. the officers were taking cover. you have children, people alive inside a room where there is gunshots. officers are trained to go toward the gunfire. and if that means you have to take a bullet for someone, that is your job. and i think dps here, the colonel here spoke about that. he said that is our job. we protect and serve. and that did not happen here, clearly. and he realizes that, and you could see the emotion in him when he was asked about how he was feeling. we don t really kind of understand what those officers, the 19 officers, and wouldn t it be great to hear from them what they were thinking, when they were orders not to go in. was there anything else being said in the moments, what the officers were saying to go in? we know an off-duty border patrol officer who is in his was getting a haircut at a local
respecting the initial decision by the school district police chief who thought transition from an active shooter to a barricaded shooter. the colonel said at one point they thought some of the shots could have been the shooter trying to entice them to come through the door so he could have suicide encounter, if you will, but there were the phone calls. what is the communication system? what is supposed to be the command and control in communication system in place when you know that people in the room are going to be calling 9-1-1 or calling their friends and family? someone has that information? how did the not reach the scene? what is supposed to happen? i find it hard to believe that there was no type of communication going back and forth. i mean, it s common sense to get on with the dispatcher and say let me know what s going on. anything, send it to me. let me know. let us know. so i some of this stuff, i just really find it hard to
