Changes are set to be made to Cardigan s safe zones

The safe zone in Cardigan. COUNCIL chiefs have made a dramatic U-turn in their plans for a new traffic system in Cardigan. Town councillors had voiced opposition to County Hall s proposal to introduce two-way traffic along Morgan Street and The Strand as part of a plan to direct vehicles away from the town centre. Members feared such a move would endanger pedestrian and driver safety and lead to the loss of essential parking adjacent to Cardigan Castle. Now, Ceredigion County Council have revealed changes to the Cardigan safe zone mean Morgan Street and The Strand will remain as a one-way system.

Philippa tops pole in Cardigan s College Row! Cardigan trader Philippa Noble has found a novel way to protest against a large pole the county council have installed in College Row. A CARDIGAN trader has taken up pole position in protest at increased signage in the town. Philippa Noble, of Castaway Fishing Supplies, has found a novel way to register her objections against the recently-installed pole on College Row. It has been planted along with others in preparation for signage along Ceredigion County Council’s proposed traffic diversion route which would see buses diverted from High Street down College Row and Greenfield Square - all as part of Cardigan’s revised Safe Zone.

Fine for woman who failed to stop after an accident

A SWANSEA Valley woman has been handed a fine and points for failing to stop after an accident and driving without due care and attention. Donna Louise Willis, of Penywern Road, Ystalyfera, admitted driving a Honda Civic on the B4599 College Row, Ystradgynlais, on August 31, where an accident occurred, and damage was caused to a Ford Focus. She failed to stop following the incident, Llanelli Magistrates’ court heard. Taking the defendant’s guilty plea into account when imposing sentence, the 35-year-old was fined £120, ordered to pay £34 to fund victim services and costs of £110. She was fined a further £120 after admitting a charge of driving without due care and attention.
