HOCKEY: High School Hockey Club A warmed up for a big clash this week with a 4-0 win over fellow club side High School Hockey Club Old Girls. High School A will take confidence from the win at the twin turfs on Saturday as they head into the game against rivals College Premier this weekend. The two sides are regular contenders at playoff time. High School A were in control for most of the game against Old Girls, scoring two goals in each half.
Chard was happy they had put in a good performance after the loss last week. “We scored very early, in the first couple of minutes. Then we were behind a couple of goals, then pegged that back, then it was almost one for one until the last quarter. “We managed to settle a little more and play a bit more controlled hockey, rather than at the pace it was played at.” College pulled away with late goals to seal the win. Verity Sharland was their standout player in the centre of the park, while Charlotte Baker was impressive up front with her pace and her finishing.
