Pierpont hall, a freshman dorm. New tonight, investigators believe two people were target one person who lives there. Students. Lets begin tonight with john monahan, and john, police spoke about this incident around 9 15 and provided new information about what happened. Thats right. Police believe this is the first shelter in place on umass campus in history. The reason, the two men inside the dorm one with a gun were worried they might leave the dorm and head out on to campus. Reporter umass believes issuing a shelter in place, the students on the amherst campus. We thought we potentially had two people that it just you know, were seen in the Residence Hall with a hand gun.
