Wayne Middaugh leads Glenn Howard s rink to victory at Brier
With Glenn Howard ailing, Middaugh led Howard s Wildcard 3 team to a 9-5 win over Gregory Skauge of Northwest Territories in the opening game of the tournament for both rinks Saturday.

Mike McEwen has had a lot of time to reflect over the last year, while his sport was on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 40-year-old skip from Winnipeg was thinking back to the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier in Kingston, the 2019 Canadian men’s curling championship in Brandon and the 2018 event in Regina.

They all had a common theme they all featured Curling Canada’s new 16-team, two-pool system and, on each occasion, McEwen and his teammates finished out of the playoffs.

CALGARY - If there s an upside to Kerri Einarson not having a women s world curling championship to play in this month, it s the chance to win another Canadian championship.
Einarson and reigning Canadian men s champion skip Brad Gushue were among the 35 duos named Tuesday to the national mixed doubles championship.
The March 18-25 tournament will be the third of four Curling Canada events held in a spectator-free, controlled environment in Calgary to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
