Coimbatore Car Blast: Five men have been arrested for their alleged role in car explosion outside a temple in Coimbatore on Sunday in which a person was charred to death.

COIMBATORE: National President of Mahila Morcha and former BJP state secretary Vanathi Sreenivasan wrote to the Prime Minister and tweeted about the plight of an eight-months-old baby from Podanur, who is suffering from spinal muscular atrophy.
She pointed out that the baby needs the drug ‘Zolgensma’ for a chance to survive. The drug costs Rs 16 crore. She requested the Prime Minister to waive off GST and import cost which is 35% of the total cost of the drug.
People, who knew the family, hoped that her tweet and appeal will help in raising funds for the baby’s treatment.

COIMBATORE: At a mass wedding in Coimbatore, where 123 couples tied the knot, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday said the AIADMK government has provided 6,085kg gold to brides under the ‘Thalikku Thangam’ scheme launched by J Jayalalithaa in 2011.
Speaking at the event, organized by the party at Perur Chettipalayam in Coimbatore district to mark the 73rd birth anniversary of former CM Jayalalithaa, Palaniswami said, “The state government has provided ₹4,217 crore to people under the marriage assistance scheme. One sovereign of gold under the ‘Thaalikku Thangam’ (gold for marriage) scheme is being given to a couple.”
