not even get an up or down vote in the senate because of those rules. at the moment, if joe manchin wins his reelection in west virginia, and the democrats were to hold on to control of the senate, then that would mean they would be at least one democrat who is in favor of holding the rules as it is, which is why the democrats are trying to elect more democrats, so that they get well above the 50 1:52 level of democrats, so that they can get rid of that rule. as i understand it, it is all except to democratic current two democratic current members of the senate, who are trying to hold on to that filibuster rule. and again, that s what i understand from the outside, and this is why elections matter. in michigan, we had a very great night in november, and we flipped our house in the senate. we passed things on the ballot like codifying roe v. wade in our state. and so elections do matter, they do change things.

that s part of the message. i think, you know, when we talk about the economy being the biggest issue and i think that s right, but in the polls, it s not the economy 80%, and everything else 20%. there are different things that different voters care about a whole lot, so we ought to kind of be careful about generalizing on what s, you know, important to all voters. clearly you have to have an economic message, but i think the other messages are important as well about the state of our democracy, about voting rights, about roe v. wade. those are important to a lot of voters, and to me, this feels like an election that, you know, i know the models say that democrats only have a one in five chance of keeping the house. well, you know, four to one long
