Coastal Children's Museum to host Bike Rodeo for children ages 2-10

(Photo courtesy Coastal Children s Museum) ROCKLAND The Coastal Children s Museum in Rockland, in conjunction with the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will be hosting a Bike Rodeo, Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Coastal Children s Museum. Designed to teach and encourage kids from age 2-10 to ride bikes safely, the Bicycle Coalition Bike Rodeo will include a helmet check, a bike mechanical check, and the chance to ride in a closed traffic skills course that teaches the rules of the road. Helmets, masks, and an accompanying adult are required.

(Photo courtesy Gaye Best) ROCKLAND The Coastal Children’s Museum recently received a donation from  Melanie Ellsworth, a local children’s book author. When Ellsworth heard about the Coastal Children’s Museum’s April Read a Thon, she offered to give the museum signed copies of her two latest children’s books,  Hip Hip Beret and  Clarinet and Trumpet. “The Coastal Children’s Museum is thrilled to have these wonderful stories in their library,” said the Museum, in a news release. Ellsworth has said that she will read to the museum members when the museum reopens. 

New England Association honors Ann Bresnahan with Distinguished Service to Philanthropy Award

Watson and Ann H. Symington, generously contributed to the original construction of Pen Bay Medical Center, in Rockport, in the 1970s. Ann’s own commitment to PBMC began earlier: Almost 50 years ago, she volunteered as a candy striper. Today, she serves as cochair of the Campaign for Coastal Health, a $21 million campaign that funded construction of the new Health Center at PBMC and will help support the expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department, scheduled to begin early this summer.
