THE city council is facing calls to take a popular music venue into public control. It was recently revealed that the Carlisle City Council-owned venue the Old Fire Station would not be reopening when lockdown restrictions eased fter a deal could not be reached between the owner and the proposed operator. The council are currently on the hunt for a new operator and are in the tender process - but city councillor and deputy leader of the Labour group Lisa Brown believes the council should run the venue themselves. She said: In the current climate we all need a break. Not opening the Old Fire Station seems ridiculous.
