The parents of a Wicklow child who suffers from a rare brain injury called Periventricular Leukomalacia or PVL have launched a DIY SOS-style plea for help to modify the family’s home to meet his highly-complex needs.
The South East Coastal Protection Alliance raised serious concerns over the rapid rate of erosion taking place at Brittas Bay beach during a presentation made to Wicklow Municipal District, citing the believed effect of wind turbines on tidal flows as a leading cause. Mick Higgins and William Hourie both addressed Monday’s meeting, stating that the targeted erosion along the south end of the beach would appear to indicate a major change in tidal flow.
Planning has been granted for a large-scale development on a 16.8ha site at Tinakilly in Rathnew, which was the focus of several protests by local residents upset over the proposed restriction of vehicular access along Tinakilly Avenue.
