The federal government has the final say in this process, but community feedback is important. For the City of Carlsbad, members of an advisory committee, chaired by Don George with Janell Whitlock serving as vice-chair, will carefully look over these proposals and consider and what each one has to offer. This committee has been asked to make a recommendation on a preference. Carlsbad’s City Council will then consider both this recommendation and the four original proposals and then vote on a final recommendation. Their recommendation will then be sent to the United States Department of Transportation, who considers community preference when making a final decision.
