Hannah Sweeps AVCA, ACC Weekly Honors

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson true freshman outside hitter (Lansing, Ill./Marist HS) has been named both the AVCA National Player of the Week, and the ACC Player and Freshman of the Week. Hannah is the first player in Clemson history to earn national player of the week honors, while also becoming the first player in program history to sweep weekly league honors and first player in the ACC to do so since 2018. Hannah’s selection makes her the sixth Clemson player under the direction of Head Coach Michaela Franklin to earn an ACC weekly distinction, and is the ninth instance overall with Franklin at the helm.

Clemson Remains No. 1, Johnson Receives National Recognition

KANSAS CITY, Mo. The Clemson men’s soccer program remains atop the national Top 25 poll in the second week of the Spring Rankings, as announced earlier today by United Soccer Coaches. Clemson received 23 of the 26 available first-place votes. Tuesday’s announcement marks the 34th week in program history that Clemson is ranked No. 1. Clemson is one of five ACC programs included in the rankings, as the Tigers are joined by Wake Forest (No. 4), Pittsburgh (No. 8), Virginia Tech (No. 21), and Virginia (No. 24). Clemson remains atop the poll following a convincing 3-1 victory over Syracuse on March 7 at Historic Riggs Field. Tuesday’s poll makes the 2020-2021 season the first since 1998 that Clemson is ranked No. 1 in consecutive weeks.

Aamir Simms Honored with ACC's Skip Prosser Award; Six Earn All-ACC Academic – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Aamir Simms Becomes Clemson s Second Skip Prosser Award Winner GREENSBORO, N.C. Clemson senior big man Aamir Simms has been named recipient of the 2021 “Skip” Prosser Award, emblematic of the top scholar-athlete in men’s basketball, while six total Tigers were named to the All-ACC Academic team, the league office announced today. Simms is a three-time member of the All-ACC Academic Basketball team. The Palmyra, Va., senior carries a 3.25 GPA with a major in sport communications, including a 3.60 GPA in the Fall of 2019 and earning Dean’s List honors in the Fall of 2020. He has completed two, for-credit internships with the non-profit US Play Coalition.

Johnson’s Brace, Reid’s First Career Goal Lead No. 1 Clemson to Victory CLEMSON, S.C. The first brace of Callum Johnson’s collegiate career, along with Isaiah Reid’s first goal as a Tiger, secured No. 1 Clemson a 3-1 victory over Syracuse on Sunday night at Historic Riggs Field. Clemson improves to 9-2-1 on the season following tonight’s result, while Syracuse drops to 1-5-3.  “I think our players came with the right mindset, which was to compete, and they competed against a team that was ready to compete in Syracuse,” said head coach Mike Noonan. “I was very proud of the players. Obviously, we got different players on the score-sheet, which is good to see. It was a good start for the guys.”

Hannah Sets Clemson Single-Match Kill Record in Five-Set Loss to Orange SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After posting 27 kills and 21 digs in yesterday’s 3-2 win over North Carolina, Clemson freshman outside hitter Camryn Hannah set the program’s all-time record in kills after finishing with 37 in a five set (20-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-17, 14-16) loss at Syracuse on Sunday afternoon.  Hannah shattered the previous Clemson’s single match record of 32 kills, which was set by three former players, including Brittany Ross (twice), Julie Rodriguez and Robin Kibben. In addition, Hannah set an NCAA 2020-21 season-high for kills in a match this season. The previous high of 34 was set by Lauren Ohlinger of Boise State and Madison Brown of Arkansas State. Ohlinger and Brown took 75 and 80 swings, respectively, while Hannah needed just 71 swings to put down 37 kills.
