Under The Radar - Record Collector Magazine

/ 28 January 2021 929 Views Steve Ellis had one of the great 60s voices, rivalling Steves Marriott and Winwood for the crown of the UK’s king of soul. As the leader of Love Affair, he came to prominence in 1968 when, aged just 17, he reached the UK No 1 with Everlasting Love, a cover of the Robert Knight song from the previous year. He was the only member of the band to actually appear on the record. He then secured a further four Top 20 hits with the group: Rainbow Valley, A Day Without Love, One Road and Bringing On Back The Good Times, before he quit in December ’69 amid what he calls “Love Affair-mania”.
