life-threatening conditions. 13 million people impacted. where you see the green, that is a flood watch. the red is a flash flood warning. that means flooding is happening right now. so we ll see those popping in and out as we go throughout the day. and radar over top, showing that we are looking at heavy rain falling still, where you see the brighter colors, the reds, the oranges, the yellows, that s where we re seeing the heaviest rainfall and this is very slow-moving rain, there is a lot of moisture, we have clay soil, so it is hard to soak up this rain, and that s what we re going to be seeing as we go throughout the day, in the southern plains, into the lower mississippi valley. it is not just that rain this morning, a second system is bringing heavy rain to the northeast and where you can see the brighter colors, that s where we re seeing the heaviest rain falling and we are seeing thunder and lightning as well. so we have some flood warnings there as well. and this is our flash
