They’ve never valued their friendship with each other more than they do now after Taeden lost his mother, grandmother, and little sister in an Athens house fire.
As a UGA student, Hendrix had volunteered to help an underprivileged youth through the Clarke County Mentor Program. He was paired with Taeden, who at the time was in the third grade.
“I was with him for five years while I was in college. It was awesome. We went to recess and ate lunch together,” Hendrix said. “He was a little kid with a lot of energy. He wanted to go throw a football. We’d throw football for an hour and we’d skip lunch because he wanted to keep throwing football.”
