Tech companies committed to supporting #ChecktheFAQs, a campaign launched today by the Department of Health (DoH) emphasizing the importance of accurate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) information.Â
Facebook, Google, TikTok, and Twitter will raise awareness for the initiative, which includes a page on the DoH website that provides reliable information on the virus and its vaccines.Â
Filipinos spend an average of 4 hours and 15 minutes daily on social media, according to the Digital 2021 report by Hootsuite and We Are Social. Online networks have become major sources of news for the countryâs 89 million social media users, which makes fighting online misinformation crucial.

Facebook announced that its Blood Donations feature is now available in the Philippines. In partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), people can sign up to get notifications about donating blood, and information on nearby DOH and PRC blood service facilities (BSF).
Since June last year, both the Department of Health and the Philippine Red Cross have been calling for more Filipinos to donate blood due to a shortage in supply. With quarantine restrictions in place and increased demand brought by medical concerns requiring blood transfusion, it is critical to boost current blood service facilities reserves.
