After a concerning number of dogs in and around the northern Michigan area have died from an illness similar to canine parvovirus, Illinois officials weighed in.
Otsego County Animal Shelter in Gaylord, Mich., is warning of a parvo-like disease spreading through the area, in which many dogs have become ill, and some have died.
Results from the additional testing facilitated by the MDARD and completed by the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (MSU VDL) have revealed the illness impacting dogs in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula to be canine parvovirus.
