SPEARFISH, S.D. Two Spearfish police officers were honored during the City Council Meeting on Monday.
2020 Spearfish Police Department Officer of the Year, Christopher Woods, and recently-promoted Sgt. Dustin Bush received applause and congratulations from the Mayor and City Council, family, friends, and colleagues present, and were treated to a reception after the meeting.
Woods, who was hired as a patrol officer in 2019, received an award certificate from Chief Curt Jacobs in recognition of his outstanding professionalism, highest percentage in traffic enforcement, and top percentile in calls for service.

At the City Council Meeting on February 22nd, Mayor Sykes announced the 2020 Citizen of the Year. As he introduced Tami Mouser, this years recipient, he spoke of the beautiful woman and the amazing things she has done for Mountain Home and in particular her Backpack Bridge program. Mayor Sykes told her that she was selected by the years prior citizen of the year and her peers and that selecting her was in recognition of her exemplary leadership and selfless acts of time as well as her visionary guidance and her undaunting dedication to the citizens of Mountain Home.
