A dust storm roared into the Borderland on Tuesday afternoon, bringing powerful wind gusts.
The National Weather Service El Paso issued a high-wind warning until 8 p.m. Tuesday for far West Texas and Doña Ana County and southern Otero County in New Mexico.
The blowing dust brought less than a mile of visibility in some areas, the NWS cautioned. If visibility is too low, drivers are advised to pull over and turn on their vehicle lights.
The storm was forecast to have sustained winds of 35 mph to 45 mph, with gusts of up to 65 mph, the weather service warned.
The forecast called for sunny and clear conditions on Wednesday, the weather service said, but winds could gust up to 28 mph.
