The North Wayne Schools are counting down to the end of the year. In a release on the school district's Facebook page, only 5 full weeks of school remain. Superintendent Adam Ellis in a statement says, "School violence continues to be at the forefront of decision making at school districts across the country. I want to take this moment to reassure you that this is also true for North Wayne CUSD 200. We are consistently evaluating our processes and procedures involving school safety. We will also continue to implement needed changes, participate in training(s), and engage in conversations with school leaders (both locally and across the region) and law enforcement regarding best practices within our buildings. We will take every possible step to keep our students and staff safe at school.". Graduation days were posted in the release as well. A Wayne County High Principal has been named Principal of the Year in the IPA Egyptian District. Kevin Bowen, Principal of Cisne High School was recently awarded the honor. Bowen also serves as the high school boys basketball coach.
There are a few benefit dinners coming up in the area over the next few days. La Fuente Mexican Restaurant in Fairfield will be hosting a benefit night for Zachary Boatner. Boatner, a senior at Cisne High School was involved in a dirt bike accident in December that led to him being airlifted to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. The restaurant will be donating a portion of its sales to the cause. There will be a benefit dinner for Bruce Lee on Sunday at the First Missonary Baptist Church, located at 106 South 4th Street in Albion. The money raised will go towards expenses of a recent kidney transplant.
