The spillway has been dangerous for four days. Theyve lowered the lake level to make room for the next forecasted storm. And they say they will continue bolstering problem areas. Engineers from the state, the federal government and contract engineers as well will continue to direct the work done by construction crews onsight for days and weeks and likely months to come. But not everyone is comfortable returning home. This man has been housing his brothers family. Hes not going back. Hes staying here. Even though they said its lifted. He doesnt feel comfortable going back. We are back here live. Youre looking at helicopters hard at work. Theyve been moving about 30 tons of rock an hour. And that operation is still underway. We are told it will be underway for days and weeks to come. Again, folks have been allowed to come back in but they are being warned that they may be ordered to evacuate again if necessary. Right now it looks like the lake is able to accommodate storm coming in. But

Reporter he told us there have been come breakins in oroville. Theres been some people taking stuff, theres been some theft and burglaries. Reporter but at the largest evacuation area, people were giving things away. Oroville School Counselor amy mcmahon was among the volunteers. Theres a lot of tension. There are people that are living hour by hour right now. Ive heard two weeks, ive heard monday, saturday. Nobody knows. Reporter the red cross confirms theres been a lack of good information at the shelter. But the biggest concern remains the dam. My kids dont want to live in oroville any longer. The north Valley Animal Disaster Group have been caring for 400 dogs, cats, birds, pigs, a couple of bunnies and a turtle. The sheriff is asking that everyone retrieve their pets on their way home.
