A Mexican man who was shot in the back while protecting his wife and daughter during the Walmart mass shooting is finally home.
Mario De Alba who was the last hospitalized survivor of the Aug. 3, 2019, attack spent six months in El Paso hospitals before being released in February. He returned to Chihuahua City with his family only to relapse and be hospitalized again 10 days later.
This summer came a final surgery, his sister Cristina De Alba said.
“The doctors told us, ‘We guarantee that with this surgery you are going to leave here walking and eating,” she said. “They did it and, thank God, it worked.”
