Santa Barbara Housing Authority Proposes 48-Unit Affordable Apartment Building

Historic Landmarks Commission to Review Condominium Project in Downtown Santa Barbara

Housing and Development Newsletter Four other stacked parking lifts exist in Santa Barbara, said Rob Dayton, transportation planning and parking manager. Two stackers are already built, and two other have been approved. With a parking lift system, cars are stacked through mechanical lifts on top of each other.  Parking stackers can facilitate and reduce the cost of providing parking for residential units, making apartments more feasible to build, Dayton said.  The project must eventually go to the city Planning Commission for approval to split the lot, and allow an open-yard modification for the development.  Christine Pierron, the architect for the project, said the proposal fits within the neighborhood.
