27th, 2013. from nbc news, this is today with matt lauer and savannah guthrie. live from studio 1a in rockefeller plaza. good morning on this memorial day. i m natalie morales. i m willie guys. matt and savannah have the morning off. breaking news. a fire aboard the royal caribbean cruise ship. katie johnson of affiliate wptv is there with the breaking details. reporter: we are just learning from the u.s. coast guard that the royal caribbean grandeur of the seas is docked in freeport, bahamas. that happened 8:30 to 9:00 eastern time. a fire broke out just before 3:00 this morning. the ship left baltimore on friday. it was headed to cococay bahamas. the fire started on deck three. crew members were able to get the fire contained and it was put oust just before 5:00 this morning. we are learning there were a couple of injuries on board. this is a stressful situation. those injuries involving two people who fainted and one case of high bloochl these people are just g
homicide of the year. and two hours earlier, two people were killed in the east hend near a kohl s department store. a neighbor said her son was friends with one of the victims she identified as a 15-year-old boy. he was a really nice i do. he hangs out with my son every day and they go places and talk to girls all the time on the phone. i believe there are witnesses. whether they come forward or not, i don t know. hopefully someone out there saw it and can identify this person. police have not confirmed the ages of the victims and have not released a motive for the shooting. 5:31, we re learning details with a party bus. a local burlesque star was killed and almost a dozen others were hurt. today in the bay s bob redell is at the hospital with more details on this crash. bob, good morning. reporter: chp tells us the house is recovering, raul padilla is facing arrest in the death of his wife. his wife, sarah klein is a well-known burlesque performer as i mentioned

good morning everybody. thank you very much for joining us. i m jon kelley. the news at 11:00 starts now. well, this morning a 92-year-old woman pulled from her burning home in oakland is dead. firefighters hacked through the roofs, battled the flachmes nea the home at the intersection of 18th and chestnut streets. a very emotional day of course for the woman s family. good morning to you. what are they saying about what happened? reporter: well, they re coming and going and they have their own theories about what happened. they think that this actually may be tied to a medical condition. i ll get to that in a minute. i want to show you what the house looks like. it doesn t look that bad from the outside but when firefighters got here they say it was completely filled with smoke. they tried to revive that 92-year-old woman who lived here but she didn t make it. this morning the coroner has identified her as jimmy burton. her family says she lived in the small house here
