SOUTH PARIS – Robert “Bob” L. Berube, 78, passed away Jan. 26, 2021 at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris after several years of declining health and complications of COVID-19. Robert was born Nov. 4, 1942 to Joseph and Fleurette (Pelletier) Berube of Auburn. He attended Lewiston/Auburn schools graduating from Lewiston High School in 1960. He enlisted in the Army National Guard Reserves after high school, attending training at Fort Benning, Ga. and graduating from Maine Military Academy as a commissioned officer in 1967. His reserve military career included PTL Leader, Executive Officer, Company Commander, SR Instructor, Operations Coordinator, Communications Specialist and Intelligence Administration. Westmoreland County Prothonotary Christina O’Brien will not seek a fourth term in office.
O’Brien, 54, a Democrat from Ligonier Township, said ongoing health issues prevent her from participating in another campaign and serving four more years as the head of the county office that oversees all civil and domestic court filings.
“I’m a fighter, but I’m not physically able to do it,” O’Brien said.
She was diagnosed more than two decades ago with the autoimmune disease lupus and, over the years, worked through bouts of the illness. Since March, O’Brien has worked from home because of the additional risks to her health caused by a potential exposure to the coronavirus.
Many warm tributes have been paid this week to the late Christina O Brien who sadly passed away on Thursday last.
Christina - or Chrissie as she was better known - was well known to Tralee people for her daily excursions to the local church for her daily prayers. She would later walk the streets - basket under her arm - meeting people. Chrissie was a natural around people and did not shirk in the slightest from offering advice if she felt someone needed it.
Tralee folk will also recall Chrissie on many occasions standing at the grotto in Boherbee, praying to Our Lady whom she had great devotion to. The Stations of the Cross was another of her daily rituals. Chrissie s daughter, Catherine, posted a message on Facebook in recent days, saying that God had opened his doors and brought her mother home.
