Isreal Abia had put Rangers ahead just before half-time at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, while Christian Nnaji made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute. Nnaji completed his brace in the 89th minute to bring the scores to 3-0. An elated Rangers coach, Salisu Yusuf, said the tactics his team applied helped them to win the match. He noted that he made two quick changes before the interval for tactical reasons which gave his team the edge.
