He is Levi Phillip Fiddymont, 19.
Fiddymont has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death, as well as dangerous driving causing injury and driving without the appropriate licence.
Interim name suppression, granted when he first appeared in court, lapsed at Christchurch District Court today.

Christchurch has a new piece of street art, paying homage to the buildings lost in the earthquake.
The new mural, on the back of the Riverside Market, is the largest and most complex ever delivered in the city, a spokesperson said.
The artwork displays interpretations of pre-quake buildings and local businesses.

Changes to the delivery of Christchurch s major projects due to Covid-19 have cost the Christchurch City Council approximately $6.5 million to date.
As of January this year, 72 per cent of the total claims by contractors of the projects have been finalised.
If a Covid-19 directive leads to a change in the cost to the contractor, it can trigger a variation to the contract, a Christchurch City Council report said.

Christchurch s biggest outdoor music festival, featuring Kiwi artists Scribe and P-Money, will go ahead this weekend.
The Electric Avenue Music Festival at Hagley Park has been sold out for a month with 25,000 people expected on Saturday.
All of the acts on the day are Kiwis after three Australian performers, Tash Sultana, Ocean Alley and Bootleg Rascal, were unable to attend due to Covid-19.
