We want to turn that around, she said.
Gordon also wants to make sure she sets a good example for her team and for Manitobans in terms of taking care of her own mental health. I m making sure that I find time within my schedule every day, even now, to exercise and to meditate, because I want to be a role model of good mental health and wellness, she said. I want to lead by example … so I really have to work on ensuring I have work-life balance.
Earlier in the week, mental health advocates said the creation of the new ministry is exactly what Manitoba needs right now to help bring these issues to the forefront especially during a pandemic that has left so many feeling anxious and isolated.

Advocates say the creation of the first ever minister for mental health, wellness and recovery in Manitoba is exactly what Manitoba needs right now to help bring these issues to the forefront especially during a pandemic that has left so many feeling anxious and isolated.
During the cabinet shuffle Tuesday, it was announced that Southdale MLA Audrey Gordon will lead the newly created department, splitting the duties of the Health portfolio, previously held by Cameron Friesen, with former Families Minister Heather Stefanson.
