“The opening of our newest Publix location in the Shoppes at RiverTown Shopping Center has been greatly anticipated by our associates and the community,” Chris Norberg, Publix Jacksonville Division community relations manager, said in a release. “We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with the Saint Johns community and providing them with the premier customer service and quality products they are accustomed to with Publix.”
Publix continues to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and will require all customers and associates to wear facial coverings inside the store. Other efforts include heightened sanitizing procedures; contactless pay options; and services like grocery delivery, powered by Instacart, and pharmacy delivery.
Sleiman Enterprises said Feb. 24 that it will develop a Publix-anchored shopping center in Wildlight, the master-planned community’s first grocery store.
The store will anchor Crossings at Wildlight at Florida 200 and William Burgess Boulevard, a news release said. The 90,000-square-foot shopping center will sit on about 17 acres.
The center is between UF Health Wildlight and a parcel owned by Baptist Health.
“The opening of this new and convenient location will give us the opportunity to continue providing legendary service to our wonderful customers both old and new,” Chris Norberg, community relations manager for Publix’s Jacksonville Division, said in the news release.
St. Johns County is reviewing plans for a grocery-anchored shopping center by The Sembler Co. at northeast Florida 207 and Brickhoff Road, east of Interstate 95, not far from St. Augustine.
No grocer is identified, although its size – 48,387 square feet – matches that of Publix Super Markets Inc.
The center also will have a 1,400-square-foot liquor store operated by the grocer.
There are two additional multitenant retail shops buildings – one on each side of the grocery store – totaling 15,400 square feet.
Plans for the 27-acre commercial development show five outparcels of 1 to 2.09 acres.
The Sembler Co. is based in St. Petersburg.
Josh Beyer, senior vice president of development at The Sembler Co., said Jan. 25 he expects construction will start in July or August and be completed in summer 2022.
