and he s got to make it quickly, because there is a looming deadline to decide whether to follow through with his threat of tariffs on mexico. let s bring in nbc s hans nichols who has been traveling with the president there in limerick. what are we hearing from the white house? i know there s some new nbc news reporting about what the president plans to do. reporter: chris, most recently, we ve just heard from sarah huckabee sanders, and she says while talks are going well, they are still on track for tariffs. they will be imposing those tariffs on monday if nothing else happens. here and the president has been getting updates from both mike pence and secretary of state mike pompeo. so the president is briefed in what s going on in those negotiations. i caveat all of this to say, we haven t heard from the president of the united states in 24 hours on this issue. yesterday before he left, he raised the energy a little bit, talking about the potential for tariffs. we haven t had him w
