Syracuse Mets lose on bases-loaded walk in extra innings at Worcester

The Syracuse Mets and Worcester Red Sox played their first extra-inning game of the season with the Red Sox winning on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning, 2-1, on Friday night at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the top of the 10th inning, Syracuse had Quinn Brodey start the frame at second base because of the extra-inning rule implemented in the minor leagues beginning in 2018.
Drew Ferguson walked to lead off. Brodey then advanced to third base and Ferguson to second on a Cody Bohanek sacrifice bunt. The Red Sox intentionally walked Johneshwy Fargas to load the bases. But Martin Cervenka popped out, and Brandon Drury grounded out, ending the half inning.

WORCESTER To any opposing pitchers taking the mound at Polar Park: good luck keeping Jarren Duran in the ballpark.
Duran hit his fourth Triple-A home run and third in three games at Polar Park on Thursday in the Worcester Red Sox’ 7-4 win over the Syracuse Mets on Thursday night.
Duran put on a show, going 2-for-3 with a 440-foot home run, an infield single, a walk and his first stolen base of the season.
“It felt pretty good off the bat,” Duran said. “It always feels good to hit a home run.I’m getting out of my own way, not trying to do too much. I have a great group of guys behind me, so I don’t have to put too much pressure on myself.”

Worcester, Mass. New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo made the start of what appears to be a very quick stop with Syracuse on Thursday night in Worcester.
Nimmo is on the major league injured list with a left index finger bone bruise, and was assigned to Syracuse earlier in the day. He went 0-for-3 in Syracuse’s 7-4 loss at Worcester, playing three innings in centerfield.
