Bruce Carmichael, left, and Chris Conabee recently joined the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission. Carmichael is a recently retired U.S. Air Force veteran and Conabee is a real estate developer. Both said that growth was coming to the Basin and hoped to shape it to benefit the community.

The Snyderville Basin Planning Commission has two new members, one of whom has flown to the edge of space and seen the curvature of the earth, while the other has concentrated on more terrestrial endeavors, helping to develop big-name projects like the Goldener Hirsch Inn expansion at Deer Valley Resort and the Utah Inland Port.

The Summit County Council this week paid tribute to departing colleague Kim Carson and also brought a new member onto the Snyderville Planning Commission.
Carson decided to retire this year, after two terms on the County Council. Council Member Glenn Wright said she leaves an amazing legacy.
“I think all of us really consider her the conscience of the Council incredibly diligent in her work ethic, keeping us on a track, in many senses being our moral compass in a lot of ways. I also spent a lot of time working with Kim on UAC. And UAC is a tough, tough venue for a Summit County Democrat, a liberal, and particularly a woman. And, boy, she held her own there and gained respect from the County Commissioners in the southern part of the state, and really helped advance Summit County issues with that body.”
