Lobos Battle to Five-Set Victory at Air Force

USAFA, Colo. It took five sets, but The University of New Mexico emerged victorious against the Air Force Falcons on Saturday night by the scores of 25-22, 25-9, 13-25, 25-27, 15-9 to end a five-match losing streak. Sophomore Kaitlynn Biassou led the Lobos with her second double-double of the series with a match-high 16 kills and 14 digs and freshman setter Kara Erfurth collected her third double-double of the season with a match-high 43 assists and added 14 digs. The Lobos had a total of four players finish with double-digit digs with Alena Moldan leading the team with a season-high 18 and Chloe Clark with a season-high 11 to go along with a season-high 14 from Erfurth and Biassou. As a team, the Lobos had 73 digs, tying the season high.

Arts Academy students receive an unprecedented 358 awards in the 2021 regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Arts Academy students receive an unprecedented 358 awards in the 2021 regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Students from all seven Interlochen Arts Academy majors netted 358 awards in the 2021 West Michigan division of the regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Creative Writing students received a total of 191 awards, including 49 Gold Keys, 95 Silver Keys, and 47 Honorable Mentions. Four creative writing students Sara Carmichael, Ella Harrington, Bianca Layog, and Maia Siegel also won all five of the region’s American Voices nominations, with Layog receiving two nominations. Several students from other Academy divisions also received accolades in the regional writing competition. by Rep. Dustin Hite It was another busy week at the Statehouse. I started on Monday by taking the gavel and sitting in the Speaker’s chair for the opening of Monday’s session. The rest of the week was filled with committees and subcommittees and is now ending with a blizzard. On Tuesday evening, the Iowa House passed House File 228, a bill which removes the ability of school districts to deny requests for open enrollment due to voluntary diversity plans adopted by the school districts. There are currently five districts in the state with voluntary diversity plans Des Moines, Waterloo, Postville, West Liberty, and Davenport and this bill now gives students in those districts the same option as students in all other districts to open enroll out.
