Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs had recently written to Additional Chief Secretary of Manipur to examine the representation seeking deletion of the “Nomadic Chin-Kuki” from the list of Scheduled Tribes in Manipur made by Maheshwar Thounaojam, National Secretary of the Republican Party of India (Athawale). The letter from the ministry made it clear that recommendation from the state government is a prerequisite to process the case further.
