The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will open some recreational facilities on April 1 for the 2015 season. “With the spring-like weather we’ve been having, we’re shifting Forest resources to open gates and parking areas to provide access to our beaches, trails and roads, said Forest Supervisor Jeff Marsolais.
The Lake Tahoe region forest closure order will be terminated at midnight Wednesday, once again allowing beach goers and some back country enthusiasts access in areas not immediately affected by the Caldor Fire. The order was originally longer but moved up two days due to better conditions.
