Olli Harder: It s a small step forward towards survival

Women Olli Harder: It’s a small step forward towards survival West Ham United Women’s manager Olli Harder reflected on his sides 0-0 draw with Aston Villa in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The Hammers and Villa battled it out at Victoria Road, with neither side able to break the deadlock before the final whistle sounded on Tuesday evening. The New Zealander’s side had a number of good opportunities in the second half but couldn’t secure all three points – which would have been precious in their pursuit of pulling themselves away from the threat of relegation.

Van Egmond scores four as Matildas star in FA Cup action

Share on Twitter Van Egmond, the West Ham midfielder, had endured perhaps her toughest time in an Australian shirt in the 5-2 defeat by Germany and the 5-0 loss to the Netherlands on Tuesday as she took her total of Australian caps to 99. But back to action with her London-based Women s Super League club on Sunday, van Egmond enjoyed the freedom of the park against lesser opposition from the National League. She scored four times in just the opening 23 minutes of the game to set her side on the way to an 11-0 win over hapless Chichester & Selsey which powered them into the fifth round of the English game s most prestigious knockout competition.
